All young people in England must continue in education or training until 18 years of age
Young people have the following choices at the end of year 11:
This does not necessarily mean staying in school; young people have a choice about how they continue in education or training, which could be through:
鈥 Full-time study in a school, college or with a training provider.
鈥 Full-time work or volunteering combined with part-time education or training.
鈥 An apprenticeship.

Sixth Form at Southmoor
The Sixth Form at Southmoor opened for business in听September 2014. Their aim is simple; to provide听a听new and exciting听choice for all post-16 students in the area, regardless of the school they currently attend. The Sixth Form offers something unique and different. The goal is to give young people the personal care, rigour, focus and aspiration, which many traditionally associate with a School whilst also allowing the freedom to develop as responsible young adults, which many see as the advantage to the College experience.
Students at The Sixth Form benefit from the focused support of a six-strong team, bringing together听a wealth of experience听ranging from听the insights of a听local ex-pupil听to those of听an Oxford graduate, with twelve years teaching experience in听top听London Sixth Forms. They also benefit from the fresh approach of a brand new sixth form with no bad habits to break. And they benefit from a curriculum, and a timetable, custom designed to support students through the vital transition from GCSE to A-level, and beyond.
We live in an increasingly competitive world, where success only comes to those who show dedication and aspire to do their very best. This is exactly what the Sixth Form expects from its students. The school’s leadership want students to imagine the very most that they can achieve so that they can then be taken beyond even that. Though the Sixth Form will not be easy, it is certain that for those willing to work hard and try their best, it will be a life changing experience.
